Ella Murray is an Assistant Professor at the Westmont Grotenhuis Nursing Program in Santa Barbara, CA. She earned her Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) in 2008 at Santa Barbara City College and began her career as a staff nurse in Surgery-Trauma at Cottage Hospital. She subsequently obtained her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Nursing Education from Western Governors University (WGU). She held positions as a Clinical Nurse Coordinator in the Emergency Department and Critical Care Transport Nurse. Additionally, she served as the Pre-Hospital EMS Coordinator and Acute Stroke-Ready Coordinator, where she was responsible for hospital-wide data collection, EMS, nurse, and physician education, and being involved in numerous improvement projects. While at Cottage Hospital, she coordinated the successful accreditation and recertification of an Acute Stroke Ready Hospital by The Joint Commission before she transitioned to academia. Ella has recently been admitted to the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program at Azusa Pacific University, where she will concentrate on evidence-based practices for student success, focusing on spiritual care assessments.
